Dachstein – Krippenstein at lake Hallstatt

Considering the ideal conditions of a safety training Krippenstein is one of the best and most beautiful sites of the Alps. The altitude is optimal and the lake Hallstatt range is sheltered from the wind, which makes this site flyable when the surrounding areas are unsuitable to fly. Both take-off places and landing areas are easy to use and approach.

The Hallstatt site is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

So, it is an excellent possibility for visiting the sights of the area, making excursions, hiking or organising other kind of alpine freetime programs. As it is a lakeside, non-flying participants or relatives can try a large number of water sports or just enjoy the beach.

Tour description

The first location of our combined tour is one of the oldest safety training centres in Austria at lake Hallstatt. With the contribution of the local club the pilots partake in a safe, efficient and also spectacular training.
This kind of safety instruction has a long-standing tradition in the alpine region. The contents of the two days training is discussed with every pilot on an individual basis and adjusted to their needs or wishes, which makes the instruction dynamic and expedient. These experiences ensure all pilots stress free flights by the increased sense of safety. 
The safety training accomplishes two tasks. On the one hand, it is an introduction into potentially uncontrollable flight conditions and how to act once they occur. On the other hand, the training improves your flight technique at the same time and you will learn how to actually prevent these situations from happening.
As practice makes perfect, ability can only be created by adding knowledge and training! Practising these manoeuvres repeatedly and successively helps every pilot to put their skills into practice when it is needed.

Peter Simonics, the main instructor of the FlyAway Team and also a Team Pilot of Nova Performance Paragliders, teaches the pilots masterstrokes and mental safety.

Trainings can be held in English or in German.

The second location is the Radstatt Valley, where more take-off places provide the opportunity to fly in case of different wind directions. Our main launching place is Stodezirken, from where we can make cross-country flights or close tasks of a high standard in classic alpine style along the valley.    
Several high level international competitions have been organised here, the last time most of the tasks of the European Championships were flown in the valley.  

It takes 30 minutes shuttle and 10 minutes walk to reach the launching place. It is easy to get back to our base from any points of the valley. Most of the XC-routes leads along the southern side of Dachstein, which is about 20km from the take-off place and easy to make it.

As our training concept is based on the RDS (Real Danger Simulation) System that has already stood the test of time, every pilot has the chance to participate in our training. The contents of the three days training is discussed with every pilot on an individual basis and adjusted to their needs or wishes.

The Stodezirken area requires at least an intermediate pilot experience.
